Food poisoning is mainly caused due to bacterial infection or ingestion of contaminated food and drinks with chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers.

Types of Food Poisoning :

There are two types of food Poisoning, Non bacterial food Poisoning and Bacterial food poisoning.

1. Non - bacterial food poisoning :

When foods or drinks are contaminated with chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers are called Non bacterial food poisoning.


2. Bacterial food poisoning :

When foods or drinks are contaminated with bacteria or their toxins are called bacterial food poisoning.

 Food poisoning is caused by the following bacteria.

(1)  Salmonella
(2)  Claustridium perfringens
(3)  Claustridium botulinum
(4)  Bacillus cereus

-  The cooks and food handlers must be clean before cooking.
-  Pasteurisation of milk before use is necessary to prevent food Poisoning.
-  providing health education to the cooks and food handlers about cleanness.
2.  During the preparation of food, it must be covered.
3.   Foods which produced gas, they must be discarded.
